It's Earth Day

Yes, I do get all gushy and sentimental about our planet and a little mad about climate change and the ongoing debate about whether global warming is man-made or a natural occurrence.
It may very well be natural, but what if it isn't? Do we actually want to debate away our only home? This "Oops" is not the loss of one life at an intersection that really required a traffic light, but did not have one because there was endless and ongoing debate as to how dangerous the intersection was and the cost of putting up the signal. No, this 'oops' is our lonely little blue planet. And I'll go all hippy on you by saying we must love our mother Earth. She is not a host that we can consume and discard by leaping to the next passing globe. This is it. Let's take action today...because the gamble comes at the greatest cost possible. The cost is greater than the loss of money or the power money provides. Power means nothing if we're all dead. Have a great day.

That you want to love Mother Earth isn't hippy to me at all, J. It's as it should be. So i guess we should all be hippies! :)

Seems to me we can get there when we truly believe and act on respect & love. and that starts with ourselves, individually, and then ripples on out there: self, family, friends, neighborhood, community, state, country, world. We can take care of Mother earth by taking care of & loving each other. It's nice to have a day to remind us.

Great post! Happy belated Earth Day.

As usual, very well stated, Jessica.
Most of the world is beginning to realize that this is a serious issue, regardless of why...although a case can be made that we are major contributors, given the amount of carbons and other toxins being emitted into the atmosphere...and this is stuff not previously seen on this planet.
As usual, this is another example of your well-thought out reasoning and concern for mankind. Plus, it's well-written!
Love ya,
