There's A 6 Year Old in the House

The quote above is from the Beatles song "Birthday." Growing up, my family would dance and sing to this song on our birthdays. It took many years until I fully understood, beyond it literally meaning two people were sharing the same birthdate, that one person's birth can be a re-birth for another. Ryan's coming into our lives 6 years ago today has been just that for Rob and myself. The love we feel for him (both our boys) knows no limits. The joy carries us to passionate heights (and equal in fears) we have never known before, not even with each other. It truly is the most impossible sort of love!
*
Ryan is funny, smart, caring and feels deeply. We are proud (albeit not without many concerns along the road) of the person he is and continues to become.
*
A few fun facts about Ryan at 6:
  • Red, currently, is his favorite color.
  • He still had no censor between his mind and lips.
  • He seems to genuinely enjoy watching soccer and baseball on tv.
  • Star Wars and all things related continue to interest him.
  • He LOVES to help me! Lord, let that never stop.
  • Like his Mom, he enjoys playing board games.
  • Chicken Tortellini would be breakfast, lunch and dinner if he had the choice.
  • He likes to change his clothes several times a day. Why???
  • Hugs and kisses are supplied daily without solicitation. He's still snugly!
  • He clearly and truly loves Tristan!

Happy 6th Birthday, Ry! We love you beyond the ability to properly express with mere words!
